Description
Exeggcute, or known in some circles as Tenkovum reptempart, is a quadrupedal herbivorous and photo-synthetic Pokémon. When exposed to a fossilized leaf, an Exeggcute may undergo cellular metamorphosis caused by residual radiation from the fossil, and transform into an Exeggutor. Upon being dislodged from its mother, usually in a location rich in deposits of plant fossils from the carboniferous era, an Exeggcute can hatch from its pod-like egg at anytime, averaging at two-six hours after being dislodged. A baby Exeggcute will remember the exact location from which it was born, how it does this is entirely unknown. As the baby grows, around the six month mark, it will start to sprout pink pods of its own from its lower abdomen. The purpose of these pods has been under massive contention in numerous biological fields, with much of it in relation to the coloration and their motifs. On each of the heads, there appears to be the representation of a face. Many agree that this is an attempt to frighten and disturb would-be predators, of which mostly consist of bird Pokémon. For those Pokémon who mistake the pods as eggs, they will find either the face that scares them away, or an angry caretaker who would rather keep its storage of food in males, or their future offspring in females. Exeggcutes are said to encounter a multitude of predators, most of which they survive unscathed. But after one to three years of this, depending on the size of the ecosystem, Exeggcutes experience a massive drop-off in predator encounters.
The basis of this has been a difficult proponent in the mystery of this Pokémon, only relatively recently been discussed at length: the color of Exeggcute’s pod plays a major role in its own survival, with pink sticking out fiercely amidst greenery. “Pokémon who seek an easy scavenge will not find one in pink egg-like objects,” is the message sent by the ornaments. Regardless, such an arrangement is not perfect, and as such the brute of the blows are received by the pods, as the host of the eggs are well endowed with a camouflaging hard exoskeleton that goes unnoticed by most. It is not uncommon to find at least one egg on an Exeggcute severely hemorrhaging with distinctive yellow embryonic fluid from such encounters, of which it will likely heal completely. Hilariously, early descriptions of Exeggcute relate only of the pink eggs, creating such fables such as the eggs themselves being telepathically linked and likewise acting as individual units. The true behavior of Exeggcutes because of this are often confused.
Throughout the life of Exeggcutes, they will shed and re-grow multiple sets of pods, with females only baring children once fertilized. A pod can be fertilized at any stage of growth. Once a female is ready to lay her eggs, she will travel to the site of her birth to ensure her spawn have the competence to metamorphose. Throughout the lifespan of an Exeggcute, they will molt their exoskeleton and re-grow a larger one that they will grow into. During this period of re-shedding and re-growth, an Exeggcute exposed to the right form of radiation will change into Exeggutor. Exeggcutes, during their time, will spend their lives gathering energy from the sun laying in breaks of foliage utilizing their photo-synthetic cells on their exoskeleton. To further supplement its diet, Exeggcutes will munch on the grass that often surrounds them.
